Just for fun - In the Navy

This is most likely one of the first example to use modern popular media indirectly to influence public. Music clip "In the Navy" by Village People were made in the late 1970s with support of the US Navy who wanted to use the song as a recruiting jingle (Vulliamy) and the band was given a ship at their disposal and a crew to work as extras. Later, the Navy decided to cancel the plan for using it for recruitment. Maybe it was due to the controversial status of the Village People and their association with contemporary gay culture. People who were openly gay were not allowed in the US Military. (Vulliamy)

However the clip remained. And it is fun. :-)
